Whiplash Treatment & Rehabilitation in Kitchener - Waterloo, Ontario

Were you injured in a motor vehicle accident?  Whether you were the driver, a passenger, or a pedestrian, auto insurance is mandated to provide "reasonable" and "necessary" treatment to get you back to your pre-accident condition.Dr. Nyman provides treatment and rehabilitation services for auto accident injuries including whiplash.

Dr. Nyman provides comprehensive rehabilitation programs for people injured in a car accident.  It all starts with a thorough examination to determine the nature and extent of your injuries.  This may or may not include x-rays.  Once your injuries have been fully assessed, we can start treatment immediately.  No referral is necessary and there is no waiting list.  In addition, the first 6-8 weeks of treatment after a car accident is automatically covered by your insurance through a pre-approved treatment arrangement, which will not impact your insurance rates.

People injured in car accidents sometimes experience a strain of the neck muscles and surrounding soft tissue, commonly known as whiplash. This injury often occurs when a vehicle is hit from the rear or the side, causing a sharp and sudden movement of the head and neck. Some General Information About Whiplash and Its Treatment

  • Most whiplash injuries will heal fully with appropriate treatment.

  • Signs of serious neck injury, such as fracture, are usually evident in early assessments.

  • The most common types of Whiplash (Grades I and II) primarily only involve injury to the soft tissues.

  • Pain, stiffness and other symptoms of Grades I or II whiplash typically start within the first 2 days after the accident.  A later onset of symptoms usually does not indicate a more serious injury.

  • Many people experience no disruption to their normal activities after a whiplash injury.  Those who do usually improve after a short period and return safely to their daily activities.

The best way to make sure you recover fully from your automobile accident injuries is to have your injuries fully assessed and treated.

Just as the soreness and stiffness of a sprained ankle may linger, a neck strain can also feel achy, stiff or tender for days or weeks.  While some patients get better quickly, symptoms can persist over a longer period of time.  For most cases of Grades I and II Whiplash, these symptoms gradually decrease with treatment and a return to normal daily activities.
